For Christ Ministries (FCM) Open House 2009
For the past 20 years FCM has been providing services to the disadvantaged. When the organization was formed in 1986 by St. Luke Church of God in Christ, its focus was to holistically meet the social, intellectual, physical, economical, and educational needs of the Chicagoland (as well as global) community. FCM is committed to a holistic approach to helping others move from the bondage of addiction and/or poverty to self sufficiency and financial independence. This can be accomplished by bringing people out of a poverty stricken mindset – that is, transforming people through the renewing of their minds. Ultimately FCM desires to reach disadvantaged persons by providing housing, job preparation/training, job placement, and home ownership assistance.
The most recent project FCM has embarked upon is in the Lawndale community on the west side of Chicago. It involves rehabbing three buildings then renting the units to low and middle income persons. Those properties are located at 3528, 3540, and 3542 West Douglas Boulevard. The project is due to be completed by the middle of 2010.
